Optelian appoints Bryan Hall Senior Vice President, Sales

Optical networking solution provider Optelian has announced that Bryan Hall has joined the team as Senior Vice President of Sales. In his new role, Hall will lead worldwide sales and business development.

Optelian CEO David Weymouth commented, “Hall is a strong leader known for his success in building businesses and increasing revenue. ‘Detuned’ DFB lasers increase modulation efficiency in fibre-optic transmission

CST Global, a UK-based independent III-V opto-electronic semiconductor foundry has announced that its research engineer Horacio Cantu was this month invited to speak at the Applications in Optics and Photonics (AOP) conference in Faro, Portugal.

Cantu presented his recently published white paper entitled, “Performance characteristics of 1550 nm and 1310 nm detuned, ridge waveguide, distributed feedback, laser diodes” (AO100-194), co-authored by CST Global’s Director of Engineering, Andrew McKee.

Oscilloquartz, an Adva Optical Networking company, has launched the OSA 5405 SyncReach, an integrated PTP grandmaster and GNSS receiver with a dual antenna and receiver to enable the mass roll-out of small cells. The new technology has been designed to provide accurate and affordable phase synchronization for the rapidly-growing small cell market and meet the timing requirements of 4.5G and 5G connectivity.

Intel Silicon Photonics 100G optical transceivers

Intel Silicon Photonics optical transceivers enable data centres to cost-effectively deploy 100 Gigabit per second solutions.

The 100G CWDM4 (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing 4-lane) QSFP28 optical transceiver is a small form-factor, high-speed, and low power consumption product, targeted for use in optical interconnects for data communications applications. The high bandwidth module supports 100GbE optical links over single-mode fibre. It features up to 2km reach on duplex single-mode fibre, with high speed and low-power consumption, and is designed to be compliant with 100G CWDM4 and CLR4 MSA, QSFP28, and CAUI-4 specifications.

Vodafone select BKT Elektronik’s custom-made ODF and connectivity suite for UK exchange renewal project

The solution is designed from the ground up in direct response to Vodafone’s requirements for a new future-proof deployment with the added benefit of backward compatibility for installation into their legacy network. Andrew Wilson, UK and Ireland Business Development Manager at BKT explained, “As a manufacturer we were able to address a very long list of disparate future-proofing requirements that Vodafone knew from experience it was going to need; something other big names were unable to match. Working closely with Vodafone our engineering excellence and ability to quickly prototype and react have been clear winners throughout.” The result is a suite of ODF frames built to house 1U and 2U 19” mini-ODFs plus a brand new splice field. All 19” components have built-in adaptability to legacy racks such as the TEP1E and Ciena 6500.
